It is good device that must be in caregiver arsenal, but I would use it together with turning belt and also if patient have some problem with legs or lumbar you need be neat.

VitalEase Patient Turning Device seems like it would be effective and helpful, but my mom’s legs are just too thick. It doesn’t fit.
It should work for people with skinnier legs. Just be sure to check the measurements before ordering. I did not.

Before ordering this, make sure you look at the video included on the Amazon listing. The lady using it with her mom, shows the size the patient needs to be. My dad is 200 lbs. when I opened the box with this very handy device, I realized that this could only go on my dad’s ankles. Now, that could be helpful. Every night I have my dad sit on the bed and hold the railing. Then I lift up his legs and he puts his head down on the pillow. Then I go around from behind and put one hand under his thigh and my other hand holds his hand and we turn him from his side to his back. I thought this might help with the feet because when I turn him onto his back, his feet get tangled up a bit which he doesn’t like. This didn’t work so well around his ankles though. He prefers it if I just move the top ankle over before turning him. I will keep this though in case he gets very frail. Turning someone in bed who cannot do anything is very difficult and this should help if it fits them!

I got this 2nd turning assistance because it is a different tool. Insted of putting a mat with a whole under the body to assist with turning, this one simply turns at the legs. This allows for flexibility when changing clothes for my grandparents while in bed as well has adjust any bedding. It is also a bit easier to use because you don’t have to lay mat down behind the person every time. You pull this out, put the legs in, strap it and then you got them turning in one direction.
Another great tool in turning bedridden patients, just like my grandparents.

My mom has advanced Alzheimer’s and recently stopped walking. I now have to help her to stand and move to a wheelchair, then reverse the process. While she’s not quite bedridden yet, she will be soon and I got this so that I’ll be prepared. It rolls smoothly and is easy to set up. The leg openings are about 4.5″ across and fits my mom well. My mom is 5’4″ (well, she was; she’s shrunk a few inches) and is now about 100 pounds, has always had skinny legs. I would not consider this a “one size fits all”. I’d say if the patient is under 200 pounds, this would probably work for them. Also depends on how you plan to use this — around ankles, knees, or thighs. If it’s for a taller, bigger person, you might need a larger one. So try to measure the person before ordering.

I recently purchased this Orthopedic Bed Roll Turning Pillow and I am so glad that I did. It helped out so much when it came to having to care for my father on hospice. The Roll Over Pad is 36 inches in length and 30 inches in width. This pad provides ample coverage for easy repositioning for both the care giver and the patient. My package arrived right on schedule and were impeccably packaged, nothing was damaged or missing. The quality of this product is top-notch but I also love that it’s affordable. The materials are both durable and comfortable, which is so important when taking care of a patient/loved one. The Bed Roll Turning Pillow’s ergonomic design and the easy roller pillow for bed sores are incredibly effective in reducing pressure points and improving overall comfort. Both of these products are very easy to clean, just wash them with a damp cloth. If you’re in need of a reliable and practical solution for bedridden care, these items are worth every penny.

I got this to help with my loved one who had a stroke and cannot move their left side very well. They are of a larger size, and although it did fit between the legs, it really didn’t help too well with the turning of their upper body – I seemed to be using just as much effort as without it. It does seem like a sturdy product though. It just didn’t work well in my case, and I’ll have to return it.

Very helpful for turning bedridden patients. It is easy to place and use, it is very cushiony and provides good comfort.
Review for You –
The VitalEase Patient Turning Device has been a lifesaver in caring for our relative with Parkinson’s Disease. Our relative is bedbound, and we must turn him frequently to prevent pressure sores. Since he is bigger and heavier than us, shifting, getting him up, or adjusting him in his hospital bed was taking a toll on our backs. This device has made a significant difference in this aspect.
One of the great features of this pillow is that the cover is removable for washing, which is very convenient for maintaining cleanliness. Despite my uncle being slim and not overweight, the pillow works well for him. It’s sturdy and strong, providing the support we need to reposition him.
Moreover, the pillow allows me to change the bed with him still in it, without the help of a second person, which has been a huge help.

I really liked the quality of this turning devices. The PU leather feels of better quality of most items I see with this material, and the body of the item, while soft, stayed firm during use.I used this item to roll my adolescent son during diaper changes and when changing bedding and pads. While he is still young, he is quite big and pudgy for his age, over 150lbs, and I had no trouble fitting his thighs in the device, and there is more room for him to grow into it.With my son’s cerebral palsy, he tends to not want to straighten his legs. This device really helped in that it held his legs straight, while I only had to roll his upper body, then his lower body rolled along with the upper body easily, the device almost acting as another pair of hands.I do not currently have a bed with rails, but the strap was helpful by fastening it over the leg openings, to prevent my son from pulling his legs out too easily.I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that struggles with bedding and diaper changes for loved ones that are mostly bedridden.
